Substantial and Funky teamed up to create the jazz-fueled melancholic mood of a vibe in "Soul Punch". Reminiscent of J Dilla's style of deep smooth bass-lines and swinging drums, DL layered the music with tones of melodic jazz riffs, whilst Substantial sentimentally croons the melodic hook in between the intensity of his playful flow of the verses. As former Nujabes collaborators, the two are very well known to deliver their melodic driven Hip-Hop and remain as staple figures in their genres.
